The alcohol industry is massively under digitised - if you’re selling B2B or D2C - you have to sell to an importer, distributor, then retailer - all of which take 15%-30% of margin. 60% of the margin is gone. Disparate regulations in each market, means that you need bonded warehouse and fiscal representation in each market, regardless of sales volumes.

Lack of digitization means lack of data, lack of customer insight, and makes D2C pretty much impossible for most companies; it currently represents less than 1% of alcohol sales.
